First look at the Sony PlayStation 4

Sony has kept the PlayStation 4’s form factor under wraps since they first introduced it in February. Now, we finally get to see how it looks like. The very angular PS4 is said to be coming this “holiday 2013” but no official word yet when it is coming. It is, however, $100 cheaper than the Microsoft Xbox One at $399 and maintains that single player disc-based games are still freely sellable and tradeable even without connection to the internet.

The $499 Microsoft Xbox One set to land in November

Microsoft is making sure its $499 next-gen console comes out in time for Christmas shopping. The Xbox One, coming out in November, was first unveiled last month but more information were given at their E3 press conference held earlier today. Some of the new details include the much welcome transition from Microsoft points to real currency when it comes to in-console purchases and Xbox Live Gold integration with game broadcasting service Twitch.

As exciting as a new console is, we have to remind you that the Xbox One isn’t backwards compatible with your old games. But this is an exciting time to watch for the new Xbox One-exclusive titles. Some of them were introduced at E3, such as Crimson Dragon, Forza Motorsport 5, and Ryse: Son of Rome. They whetted appetites further with a sneak peek of the new Halo coming in 2014.

Apple introduces iTunes Radio, a free online radio service

Apple’s finally taking on the likes of Pandora and Spotify with a new, free online music streaming service called iTunes Radio. It will have over 200 stations and a supposedly “incredible” inventory of music taken from the iTunes Store.

The stations you access from your Apple devices and even your PC are going to be inspired by the music you already have and listen to. It encourages you to continually use iTunes Radio and iTunes itself to create a more personalized listening experience. With the service, you also get first dibs on new stuff from top-selling musicians, Siri integration, and easier access to tagging and purchasing songs. If you are an iTunes Match subscriber, you can listen to it ad-free.
