LEGO unveils nostalgic Minifigure Vending Machine set

The LEGO Group has announced its latest LEGO Ideas creation: the Minifigure Vending Machine. This retro-inspired collectible set is designed specifically for adult LEGO enthusiasts, bringing the charm of classic vending machines to life with a brick-built twist.

The set originated from the LEGO Ideas platform, where fan designer Rob Vangansewinkel from Belgium saw his childhood inspiration come to fruition.

His concept, which garnered the necessary 10,000 votes from the LEGO community, was then reviewed and approved for production by LEGO designers. Vangansewinkel meticulously crafted the dispensing mechanism using actual LEGO bricks over several months.

This detailed 1,343-piece set allows builders to construct a fully functional vending machine, complete with a rotating knob and a LEGO coin to operate it. The machine dispenses one of 16 colourful capsules, each containing bricks to assemble a surprise minifigure inspired by beloved vintage LEGO themes like Castle, Paradisa, Fabuland, and Classic Space. The set also includes a buildable minifigure of the fan designer himself.

Measuring 11 inches high, 6.7 inches wide, and 8.3 inches deep, the Minifigure Vending Machine is designed to be a display-worthy conversation piece, perfect for bookshelves, home offices, or even as a unique Zoom background. Its retro design features rounded "glass" styling, evoking the nostalgia of classic vending machines.

The LEGO Ideas Minifigure Vending Machine will be available for purchase starting June 6 at LEGO.com/MinifigureVendingMachine, LEGO stores, and select retailers across Canada. The set is priced at $219.99.
