Xiaomi introduces 80W mobile wireless charging

 

What can you do in 20 minutes? A quick breakfast or workout? Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi outdoes itself again with the introduction of an 80W wireless charging solution. The tech can charge a 4,000mAh battery up to 50 percent full in eight minutes and up to 100 percent in 19 minutes. The company shows the tech in action on a modified Mi 10 Pro.

Fast charging at these speeds hasn't really made its way to this side of the world. But Chinese phone makers outdo themselves as companies like Xiaomi, Huawei, and OPPO develop fast-charging solutions.

GMC launches Hummer EV a Cybertruck killer

GMC just revealed the new Hummer EV,which will have a 1,000hp and manage a 560km range, while offeringquick charging. GMC is touting this as the world’s first zero emissions, zero limits all-electric supertruck. Slated to start shipping in 2021, the Hummer EV is the most viable competitor to the Tesla Cybertruck and it leverages the legacy of Hummer military vehicles that were made street legal in the '80s and '90s. There are four variants of the Hummer EV starting at US$80,000 (around CA$105,244) and they will be shipping Spring 2021.

Google will no longer produce the Nest Secure alarm system

Google has discontinued its Nest Secure alarm system. But the company promises to "continue to support our security users in all the same ways." Introduced in 2017, it was a modular alarm system with the hockey puck-like keypad called the Nest Guard, which served as the central hub; Nest Detects, which were the sensors placed around the house; and the NFC key fobs to arm and disarm the system.
