The Sony PlayStation 5 isn't here yet, but there are already customization options being sold online. A company called PlateStation is offering third-party coloured plates to give Sony's next-gen console new skin. However, the company isn't associated with Sony or the PlayStation brand in any way.
Friday, October 23, 2020 at 9:21AM Augmented Reality (AR) has been demoed as more of a parlour trick for new devices. The ability to put virtual objects in real space (i.e Bulbasaurs in your living room), or being able to place virtual furniture in your living room are cool but hardly game changing. Companies like Apple have been touting AR as a serious new functionality and their iPads and iPhone 12 models now provide LiDAR scanners that do a better job at reading environments for better AR integration. But lets face it, how often will we use these outside of photography applications. The new ClipDrop plugin for Adobe Photoshop makes it possible to capture real-world objects and drop them into your Mac to incorporate them into your design. Copying and pasting real objects can change creative workflows. ClipDrop can capture images, people, and event text.

Roughly one year after he left Apple Inc. Sir Jony Ive is back in the tech limelight, not for a revolutionary new product or innovation but because of a multi-year partnership with Airbnb. Ive retired last year to form his own LoveFrom design firm which was supposedly still open to collaborate with Apple. We've had a slew of product releases from Apple that seemed to have no direct involvement with Jony Ive.
News has it that Ive's firm LoveFrom will help design the next generation of Airbnb products and services. This might seem confusing since Airbnb's service is hinged on technology that enables individuals to rent out their homes or apartments (something that has fallen out of favour lately, because of COVID-19). Collaborating with a design luminary like Ive seems strange, but if you consider Ive's final masterwork for Apple was his involvement in the Apple Park mothership, it makes sense to leverage his substantial knowledge of architecture, interior design, and innovation. Of course, the joke Ive watchers will make is that Airbnb is gearing up to create a series of white rooms like the one Ive used to do his Apple keynote voice overs from. This partnership could see Ive move on to his next phase as a designer and will likely yield some surprising new products for Airbnb.

Huawei's ongoing partnership has produced special edition versions of its handsets through the years. With the launch of the Mate 40 series, of course, we get the new Porsche Design Huawei Mate 40 RS. Aside from that flagship handset, we also get a special edition version of its Watch GT 2 this time.
Let's talk about the phone first. The Porsche Design variant shares many features of the Mate 40, but with a few even more premium specs to justify its price and positioning. Mate 40 RS will set interested buyers by a whopping €2,295 (around CA$3,566).
