Google Meet to add Q&A, polls for G Suite paid users

Google Meet is adding two highly-requested features on October 8: Q&A and polls. The functionalities will be available to G Suite Essentials, G Suite Business, G Suite Enterprise, and G Suite Enterprise for Education customers. Both are useful to help facilitate smooth meetings and classes held on the video conferencing platform. 

Q&A will allow attendees or students to submit questions that hosts, moderators, and teachers can answer without interrupting the discussion flow. Or to give those, as Google describes, "who may be soft-spoken, joining from a noisy environment, or need more time to process their thoughts" an opportunity to ask or share their insight. Participants can also upvote their favourite questions.

Apple TV can finally play YouTube videos in 4K—sort of

Good news for Apple TV users, the device can now play YouTube videos in 4K. But there are a few limitations. You can only watch videos in Ultra HD at 30 frames per second and without HDR. If you want to take advantage of 60fps videos, these can play at up to 1440p. 4K support is showing up for users who have at least tvOS 14 running on their media hub. YouTube appears to be rolling out the update remotely, and it is doing it gradually, so don't be surprised if you haven't gotten it yet. 

YouTube also confirmed that 4K video with 60fps and HDR is available on the current iPads and iPhones, too. But Engadget pointed out that support seems to be inconsistent right now.

Apple sues GEEP Canada for allegedly reselling 100,000 iPhones, iPads, Watches meant for recycling

Apple has filed a lawsuit against its former contractor GEEP Canada, alleging that the company is reselling over 100,000 iPhones, iPads, and Watches that were supposed to be dismantled and recycled. Apple discovered the issue after it audited over half a million devices sent to the recycling partner between 2015 and 2017. It found that 18% of the iPhones, iPads, and Watches were still accessing the internet through cellular networks. That totals 103,845 devices. It doesn't take into account the Wi-Fi only devices, meaning the figure can be higher.

 "At least 11,766 pounds of Apple devices left GEEP's premises without being destroyed - a fact that GEEP itself confirmed," reads a portion of Apple's complaint. The company seeks to obtain at least $31 million from GEEP, which is now part of Quantum Lifecycle Partners.
