Twitter pauses plan to remove inactive accounts

Twitter announced a few days ago that it planned to get rid of accounts that were inactive for over six months. But the social network is putting a pause to that plan until it can figure out how it can preserve accounts of people who've died. Twitter acknowledged that this oversight was "a miss on our part" and that it won't be removing any inactive accounts until they find a way to memorialize accounts. We assume the December 11 deadline Twitter set will be pushed back.

What was also not clear during the initial announcement was Twitter planned to start removing accounts in the EU, because of General Data Protection Regulation rules. But the company plans to bring it to other countries eventually. And when they do, this move will free up usernames of dormant accounts.

Sony WF-1000XM3 earbuds' update brings Amazon Alexa support

Sony has released a firmware update for its pair of WF-1000XM3 wireless earbuds that brings with it support for Amazon's Alexa assistant. The buds already support Google Assistant, but now you have the option to use Amazon's if you want to. Version 2.02 update also brings with it volume control as well as visible battery level for the charging case on the Sony Headphones Connect app. The caveat is you can only set one function to use with the earbuds. So you can either have the noise cancellation toggle, digital assistant access, volume control, or playback option. The app is also where you can download the firmware update. It's available on both Android and iOS.

WestJet's Juliet AI chatbot is now on Google Assistant

WestJet recently launched an AI chatbot to help answer your flight- or travel-related queries through Google Assistant. The Canadian airline calls this new digital assistant Juliet, and you can ask it everything related to managing itineraries, ID requirements, travel documentation, as well as questions regarding travelling with pets, among others. Juliet also comes with a baggage-size calculator to help you determine if you can carry on or if you need to check-in your luggage. To get your questions answered, say, "Hey Google, ask WestJet."

The airline has been developing the chatbot for the last 16 months, which it claims is the first of its kind from a Canadian airline. WestJet decided to partner with Google based on user data and research. It will work for both iOS and Android, but for Apple users, make sure you have the Google app installed. Juliet is also available through Facebook Messenger.
