A Chrome browser extension for Netflix boosts your viewing experience

If you want a better browser experience with Netflix, the Netflix Extended extension for Google Chrome is something you’d need to check out. Not only does it let you skip intros and recaps, but it also offers some useful keyboard shortcuts to let you skip to and from episodes, increase or decrease volume, and even start random videos from the search screen. Aside from that, it can mute trailers by default, disable play/pause with a touchscreen, and the ability to pause a video if you switch tabs. You can check out or install the extension from this link.

Samsung patent toys with the idea of placing the camera in a stylus

Samsung has been able to stay notch-free in a notch-filled world. And it seems the company is toying with the idea of putting a camera with optical zoom capabilities into a stylus. Samsung filed a patent back in February 2017 and had it granted yesterday. According to said patent, the stylus would wirelessly send images back to the phone or tablet—which could be made possible since Note 9 already uses Bluetooth support for the S Pen stylus.

Putting the built-in camera into a stylus offers some benefits. By taking the camera out of the phone, there is the possibility of putting in optical zoom. The patent itself mentions an “optical zooming function” specifically. It also gives you more flexibility when it comes to taking photos, having the phone act as your viewfinder while you move the stylus around to suit your needs. We have to remind you that this is a patent though, so there is no guarantee that we’d be seeing this technology anytime soon.

Facebook Messenger’s “unsend” feature is finally here

If you’ve been waiting for this feature to arrive, then you’re in luck. Facebook has begun rolling out its “unsend” feature in its mobile app. You now have 10 minutes after you send a message to remove it from a conversation. All you need to do is long-press or tap on the message you want to delete. This will show you two options that are self-explanatory: “Remove for Everyone” or “Remove for You.” It’s already made its way to our Android device, so just keep an eye out for it.

Spotify is building its podcast business through two new acquisitions. The music streaming service acquired Gimlet Media and Anchor. The former is a startup podcast network, while the latter provides creators with tools to help them build, publish, and monetize podcasts. Spotify CEO Daniel Ek claims the company is now the second-biggest podcasting platform and that its podcast users “spend almost twice the time on the platform, and spend even more time listening to music.” And it wants to provide these users with more original programming as well as entice potential listeners to turn their platform into “the world’s number one audio platform.”

The company plans to invest more into podcasts this 2019 and said that it’s willing to spend around US$500 million to grow its podcast business. According to Recode, Spotify paid around US$230 million on Gimlet alone.
