Samsung might be introducing a party trick to the Galaxy S10’s camera

We might see that illuminated ring around the upcoming Samsung flagships

The leaks for the Galaxy S10 keep coming. One of the latest ones might be more of a party trick than anything else. According to Ice Universe on Twitter, there will be an illuminated ring around the front-facing, pinhole camera. But it’ll be making its debut first in the Galaxy A8s before making its way to the S10 and S10+. Supposedly the S10 will be getting a single front-facing camera, while the S10+ will be getting dual front-facing shooters. Both will be getting the illuminated ring. It’s said the ring will glow when you fire up the camera or use facial recognition to unlock the handset. Not much else is known at this point, but it might be safe to assume these won’t be bright enough to act as a flash for the camera.

Leak shows smaller chin for the Galaxy S10+

Samsung Galaxy S10+ chin compared to the Huawei Mate 20 Pro and iPhone X

The latest leak for the Galaxy S10+ is going into the minutiae of details. This time around, it’s focusing on the chin of the upcoming Samsung flagship. A new leak shows how the Galaxy S10+’s chin will compare to the iPhone X’s and the Huawei Mate 20 Pro’s. The difference isn’t that significant, but you can see a slight difference—or at least you’d need to take a ruler to it. If you’ve been looking for a bigger display, looks like the upcoming Samsung might deliver.

Leak shows possible design of the Huawei P30 Pro

How many camera sensors is enough in a smartphone? Manufacturers still aren’t done adding more into their devices. The latest leak for Huawei’s upcoming P30 Pro smartphone suggests we’re getting another smartphone with four camera lenses. Unlike Samsung’s take on the trend, the fourth sensor rumoured to be coming to Huawei’s newest flagship won’t be directly usable. The company is following a new trend from Chinese brands where there’s a Time-of-Flight (ToF) sensor that’s commonly used for 3D mapping in virtual and augmented reality. How this’ll be utilized is something we don’t know yet.

One other change rumoured to be coming to the P30 is a smaller, “waterdrop” notch. The P20 Pro had a wider notch to house extra sensors for a more advanced 3D face recognition system. Now, we’re wondering if the P30 Pro loses these sensors. We’ll only find out once they phone officially launches, which usually happens in the first quarter of the year.
