OnePlus 6’s selfie portrait feature is coming to the OnePlus 5 & 5T

Responding to user feedback from its first Open Ears Forum in India, OnePlus is bringing its selfie portrait mode from the OnePlus 6 to two of its predecessors the OnePlus 5 and 5T. Without dual-front facing cameras, its implementation is similar to the Google Camera and the Google Pixel 2, meaning it’s purely software based. Porting won’t be much of an issue as both phones feature a 16-megapixel front shooter like the OnePlus 6. OnePlus hasn’t exactly said when it’s coming but we’re sure to hear from them when it does arrive.

Samsung updates AR Emoji to add more customization options

When Samsung first unveiled the AR Emoji, it had some kinks it had to work out. Now, Samsung is hoping to give the Galaxy S9 users a better experience and have these AR Emojis look more like their users by introducing customization options. A new My Emoji Editor feature will let you fine-tune standout characteristics like eyes, lips, nose, and cheeks, among others. You can even adjust face shape to mirror your own. Face-tracking has been updated here, too. Samsung says there’s been a 65 percent increase in “landmark detector” points, which means it can track things like eye and mouth movement more precisely. There’s also a frame rate boost so movements look smoother and more natural. Samsung will be releasing this update to all its markets soon.

Apple HomePod will reportedly let you make calls soon

Review: Apple HomePodA recent report claims you’ll get more out of your HomePod soon. It’ll supposedly bring one important feature: the ability to make and receive calls. According to iGeneration, their look at the iOS 12-based software update for the device will let this happen, among some other useful features. As long as the HomePod is paired with your phone, it’ll let you make or answer calls. It’ll also help you locate your iPhone, improve translation features, and have the ability to switch Wi-Fi networks without needing to reset the device. If the report is to be believed, this might make the HomePod a more attractive purchase for consumers.
