Apple’s upcoming ‘world-building drama’ will star Jason Momoa

You might know him as Game of Thrones’s Khal Drogo or Aquaman, but soon Jason Momoa will be starring in one of Apple’s new original shows. The actor has been cast to lead a show called See, which is described as a “world-building drama” that’s set in the future. Momoa will play Baba Voss, a “fearless warrior, leader, and guardian.” See was written by Steven Knight, who will also serve as an executive producer on the show. Francis Lawrence will be serving as another executive producer and will be directing it as well. No word yet on when this series will come out.

Instagram introduces ‘Question Sticker’ to Stories

Instagram’s latest addition to its ephemeral Stories feature is a new sticker. The Question Sticker will help you interact with your friends and followers easily. This joins the existing polling sticker and emoji slider and is accessible through the stickers section of Stories. Type out your question and just like any other sticker you can place this anywhere in your story. When your friends or followers want to answer, they just tap the sticker to reply and answer as many times as they want. You’ll see all the responses in your viewers list and you even have the option to share their answers. But when you share their responses, their username and photo won’t be visible. Question Sticker is rolling out to both the iOS and Android apps.

Netflix introduces new ‘smart downloads’ feature on Android

Helping maximize space in Android devices, Netflix unveiled a new “smart downloads” feature. This will automatically delete an episode you’ve downloaded and seen and then download the next episode for you the next time it detects you’re connected to a Wi-Fi connection. Usually, Netflix will stop you from downloading too many episodes but this new feature could potentially put a stop to reaching the maximum number of downloads. If you’d rather keep the old episodes though, you can head to the Downloads setting and toggle off the Smart Downloads option. No word yet when the feature is coming to iOS.

Report claims Apple Music has surpassed Spotify in terms of paid subscriber count in the US

A recent report from Digital Music News claims Apple Music has overtaken Spotify when it comes to paid subscribers in the US. The story cites an anonymous source from a major US-based distributor who shared a report of a subscriber tally for different music streaming services like Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal, and Sirius XM. Both Apple Music and Spotify now have over 20 million subscribers with the former just “a hair ahead” at “20 million plus” members. The new information claims Apple Music is set to widen this distance in the coming months. At the moment, Sirius XM Satellite Radio, which operates in North America exclusively, is leading at over 33 million subscribers.

This report follows up a story in The Wall Street Journal back in February that claims Apple Music’s growth rate was on paced to eventually pass Spotify in the US. Apple’s growth rate was pegged at five percent, compared to Spotify’s two percent. Based on these figures, Apple Music would surpass Spotify in the summer.
