Timehop reveals July 4th data breach

Timehop, an app that resurfaces your social media posts from years’ past, revealed it suffered a data breach on July 4th, giving the hacker access to data of 21 million users, including names, email addresses, and some phone numbers. According to Timehop, the hacker entered the app’s cloud computing account (which wasn’t protected by multifactor authentication then), transferred data, and then attacked its production database. Timehop noticed the breach two hours after it began and was able to put a stop to it. But not before the aforementioned number of users’ data have been stolen.

James Mangold addresses rumoured Boba Fett spin-off movie

Before the release of Solo: A Star Wars Story rumours have been going around that Logan writer/director James Mangold was going to direct a spin-off film based on bounty hunter Boba Fett. And when a Twitter user sent Mangold a tweet saying “Boba Fett movie = Worst idea ever,” the writer/director took to his Twitter to talk about what he is working on. He tweets, “Look what I got from a self-proclaimed ‘lover of life’! Seriously Blackbird, chill. I’m making a period car racing movie w/ Christian Bale & Matt Damon. No Mandalorians involved. Stop reading so much gossip.”

Lucasfilm hasn’t confirmed any of its upcoming plans beyond Episode IX, Rian Johnson’s trilogy of films, and Game of Thrones co-creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss’ series of films. Rumour has it spinoff films have been put on-hold due to the negative reception to Solo. Now, whether Mangold was involved in one of them, we can’t say right now. For now, the upcoming Star Wars film fans can look forward to is Episode IX, which hits theatres in December 2019.

Microsoft launches Surface Go, a 10-inch 2-in-1 starting at $529

Microsoft just made the Surface Go public. This is the smallest Surface device which is also the most affordable full-featured Surface device coming to Canada starting at $529. Surface Go is the thinnest and lightest Surface Microsoft has shipped. The device will have Windows 10 S installed, although it is likely users can upgrade to Windows 10 Pro.

Surface Go preorders start tomorrow in Canada as well as other markets. The Surface Go has a 10-inch PixelSense display, it can accept Surface Pen input with up to 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity which makes it ideal for creatives, editors and anyone who wants a digital easel and canvas. Powered by a 7th Generation Intel Gold processor in a fanless enclosure, the Surface Go will also be made available in an LTE model later this year.

Microsoft teases new Surface device expected tomorrow

There's a lot of buzz surrounding Microsoft these days, particularly for their hardware releases. The past few weeks have been a roller coaster of 'Surface Andromeda' news and leaks until the news that this mythical 3-in-1 device is not coming anytime soon. Now we have a hint from Microsoft that something new is coming to the Surface line with a Twitter teaser. The above image shows the Surface family as it stands. The Twitter message states 'Where will Surface go next?"
