TAG Heuer has a CA$245k Android Wear watch

One of the new TAG Heuer Android Wear-powered watches needs to come with its own security detail. The TAG Heuer Connected Modular 45 has a diamond-encrusted version that comes in at 190’000 CHF (which is around CA$245,000). This model comes with the name “Full Diamond” attached to it, which is an appropriate name for the watch with 589 diamonds that total 23.35 carats that’s seen across the exterior surface on both the bezel and bracelet. The other parts of the watch are adorned with 18K PD125 white gold.

The watch itself comes with an auxiliary mechanical module if you want a more traditional timepiece. You can also swap out the lugs and bracelet. What else does an almost $250,000 get you? It is also offers 50 metres of water resistance, GPS, NFC sensor for payment, HD AMOLED screen, customizable TAG Heuer dials, and Android Wear 2.0 and its companion app. We’re not sure if that’s worth the asking price but if you have to worry about that, then you’re not the target customer that’s for sure.

Huawei P10 and P10 Plus get Android Oreo through beta release

Huawei seems to be following the trend of releasing Android’s latest operating system through beta updates. This time, it’s bringing Android Oreo to its P10 and P10 Plus devices. Huawei Mobile Romania posted on Facebook looking for owners of these two devices with software versions VTR-L09C432B180, VTR-L29C432B180, VKY-L09C432B181, and VKY-L29C432B181. It seems these devices will be getting access to Oreo first. If you have this, you’ll still need to download Huawei’s beta app and login with a Huawei ID. When you join, you’ll immediately get an over-the-air update. You can also opt out of the beta program through the app.

As a reminder, if you rely heavily on your phone, there is a risk using beta software. But if you’re willing to take the risk, you do get early access to some new features such as a EMIU 8.0, floating navigation dock, new look for the settings menu, and a 30-day recycling bin for the gallery. The update is pretty sizable at 2.61GB.

New iPad Pro ads puts the spotlight on its augmented reality feature and the Apple Pencil

Two new Apple iPad Pro ads highlight a couple of important features of the tablets. One is the “Augmented Reality” ad that shows a girl biking around a city street when she spots a man quietly reading a newspaper on the bench. For some reason, she stops and decides to whip out her iPad Pro to show off how augmented reality can work in this scene. She drops some furniture around him. The short 15-second ad ends with the tagline: “A new way to augment reality.” The description in the video’s YouTube page says, “With iPad Pro + iOS 11, you can use augmented reality to literally transform the world around you. Your next computer might not be a computer.”
