ASUS unveiled its first foldable OLED monitor at CES 2024, aimed at multitaskers who want a portable second screen. The ZenScreen Fold OLED monitor has a 17.3-inch display that folds up like a book for easy transport, thanks to a waterdrop-style hinge that minimizes the screen crease. It also has a slim profile of 9.7mm when unfolded and weighs only 2.65 pounds, making it ideal for working on the go.

The monitor promises a stunning visual experience with its OLED screen, which has a resolution of 2560 x 1920 and supports 100 percent of the DCI-P3 colour space and the DisplayHDR True Black 500 standard. This should offer vivid colours and deep blacks on the screen.

Infinix shows off colour-shifting e-ink tech for the back of the phone

Image: Infinix

Infinix might not be a known smartphone brand in this part of the world. However, the Transsion Holdings brand introduced an interesting smartphone concept at CES. It introduced an E-Color Shift technology for smartphones. This technology uses E-Ink Prism to let smartphone back panels change and keep colours without using power. You can customize your phone’s back cover with different colours, the time, moods, and other information in a matrix style.

"This way, users can show their personality and uniqueness through their phone designs, beyond simple colour changes. This makes their device look new and attractive,” said Infinix Mobility Deputy General Manager Liang Zhang. We'd like to see more smartphone makers experiment with e-ink this way.

L’Oréal, known for unveiling innovative beauty products at CES, is introducing a new hairdryer called the AirLight Pro. It uses infrared light and airflow to dry hair faster and more gently than conventional heat.

The AirLight Pro is inspired by how the sun and wind dry rain, says Guive Balooch, L’Oréal’s Technology Incubator vice president. The infrared light evaporates water on the hair surface while preserving moisture inside the strand. The light also has a hydrating effect on hair, unlike UV light.
