Google adds more editing capabilities to Docs on mobile

Google Docs users on both Android and iOS are getting a bunch of new features to use. Starting off with Android, users can now drag and drop text anywhere in a document, insert as well as edit headers and footers, and get a bunch of new photo editing tools. These new tools include the ability to move, rotate, and resize images within the app as well as fixing text wrapping and border style of a photo.

Meanwhile, those on iOS also get the ability to insert headers and footers as well as add page numbers within the header or footer. iOS users will also be able to change the color, size, and orientation of a Google Docs page. On top of that, Google Sheets users on iOS get to insert and edit a variety of borders within the app. Updates are rolling out now to both Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

Amazon sells out printed copies of George Orwell’s ‘1984’

With truth seemingly stranger than fiction, especially in America, people are turning to literature and one classic is getting a lot of attention: George Orwell’s 1984. It’s hard not to think there’s a relationship between the cautionary tale about a brutal, amoral dictator and the first week of Donald Trump as president. Both hard cover and soft cover of the Signet Classics versions are sold out. And Penguin, the owner of Signet Classics, is looking to print more copies of the book. “We put through a 75,000 copy reprint this week,” a Penguin spokesman told CNN. That is a substantial reprint and larger than our typical reprint for 1984.” The book has also topped Amazon’s best-selling list earlier in the week. If you haven’t read it and this latest update has gotten you curious, the book’s Kindle version is available.

Shazam makes it easier to identify unknown songs on Android

While the new Shazam update brings features to both Android and iOS. Android users seem to be getting more out of the deal this time. Android Nougat users specifically get a new firm-press shortcut that’ll instantly “shazam” songs for you—meaning it’ll start to identify the song you want it, too. As for other Android users and iOS users, you can now scan “Shazam Codes” with your phone’s camera. These will come in handy when you spot Shazam-branded codes out in the wild—everything from products to magazine ads. These’ll bring some “augmented reality experiences” to you. There’s a bug fix for the iOS version that messes with Shazam’s ability to identify songs when music is playing from another app.

Apple iPhone 7 sales might be affected by its older brothers

While the Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are solid devices, it seems they’re under threat by their own older siblings. Ahead of Apple’s release of its quarterly results, some Wall Street analysts predict that the iPhone 6 and 6s pulled down the average selling price of the current Apple flagship phones during the holiday season. And that could hurt the overall results of the company for the quarter.
