Marvel’s ‘Jessica Jones’ to only have women directors for upcoming season

Hoping to right the gender imbalance in the industry and telling the tale of a female superhero better, Jessica Jones will be getting an all-female director lineup next season. The Marvel show’s executive producer Melissa Rosenberg confirmed the news at Transforming Hollywood 7: Diversifying Entertainment conference at the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism. According to Variety, the production first focused on trying to get as many female directors to work on the show. But it wasn’t until someone else in the team “floated the idea” of booking only women directors. There aren’t that much details yet about the second season of the Netflix show but it’s expected to go into production next year with a 2018 release.

Toyota to out fuel cell bus in Japan next year

Toyota’s newest hydrogen fuel cell-powered bus isn’t a new sedan or crossover SUV; it’s a bus meant for public transportation—specifically it’s being targeted for use during the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics. The zero-emission bus makes use of the same technology seen in the new Mirai fuel cell sedan. It comes with up to 10 tanks that can store 600 liters of highly pressurized H2. This lets it produce 235kWh of power, which is said to be roughly three times what the Tesla Model S can release. The bus is part of Toyota’s push to use hydrogen more. The Japanese car manufacturer considers this as “a powerful source of energy for the future.”

Aside from being a powerful fuel cell bus, it can even act as an external power generator that can be used to power things like evacuation sites and even for home appliances during widespread power outages. Toyota plans to sell these buses starting next year and it hopes to have a fleet of 100 or so running by the year 2020.

Duke Reporters’ Lab introduced the new Echo skill that’ll make it easier for you to check if the candidates are just speaking lies. Echo gets its data from PolitFact, FactCheck.org, and the Washington Post. It isn’t a perfect feature and you’ll have to go through an opening spiel to get right to asking it questions. Duke emphasizes that you need to mention major keywords to get a correct answer from it.
