Apple, Google, Microsoft and World Wide Web consortium back passwordless sign-in initiative

The three largest computing, mobile, and browser companies are teaming up to back a passwordless sing-in initiative that could remove one of the biggest pain points and security threats today. Weak passwords are responsible for 80% of breaches and hacks, so Apple, Google, Microsoft are leading the charge in a password-free sign-in.

The FIDO alliance will enable users to sign into websites and apps using their smartphones for authentication, removing the need for any password or PIN code. This ostensibly eradicates the need to have multiple complex passwords for varying websites, or the chance that reused passwords leak and allow unauthorized access.

Samsung introduces new dashcam memory card promising non-stop recording of up to 16 years

It's essential for dashcam memory cards to last as long as possible. Samsung believes it has made the longest-lasting card yet. Its new Pro Endurance microSD cards promise up to 16 years of continuous recording for the range-topping 256GB version. This longevity only extends to this variant, but you can still get up to eight years on the 128GB model. (There's also a 32GB one.)

For context, Samsung's older dashcams peaked at five years, still considered better than what was offered in the segment. The norm has been two to four years of non-stop recording. This new Pro Endurance line can read at speeds up to 100MB/s and write at 30MB/s or better, allowing you to capture 1080p or 4K footage. Samsung also claims the cards are resistant to drops, magnets, water, extreme temperatures, and X-rays. The starting price is at US$11 (~CA$14) for that 32GB option and tops out at US$55 (~CA$71) for the 256GB model.

This six-part series is set 10 years after Revenge of the Sith, filling in some gaps that the prequels and the original trilogy might have missed. Obi-Wan Kenobi will debut with two episodes on May 27.

Ubisoft Montreal to take lead of the 'Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake'

Source: Ubisoft

The Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake was expected to launch this year, but its development process has been quite bumpy. Ubisoft's latest solution to address the problem is to put its Montreal studio in charge of the project. Ubisoft Pune and Mumbai studios have been working on the game.

Ubisoft Montreal is considered "the very birthplace of the epic Sands of Time trilogy." Now, the dev team says it will "take them time they need to regroup on the scope of the game" to offer "the best experience for this remake of an all-time classic, when it's ready."A spokesperson from Ubisoft told Engadget that the aimed release for The Sands of Time Remake is the 2023 fiscal year, so you shouldn't expect it to come out before April next year.
