Facebook's Fidji Simo expounds on the company's upcoming audio offerings at Collision Conference 2021

As you might have heard, Facebook is working on several audio-only products rolling out in the future. So, it makes sense that Fidji Simo, the head of the Facebook app, will talk about these offerings at this year's Collision Conference. 

According to Simo, Facebook's goal with its new products and its approach with developing products is that they "aim to understand what people are trying to do and make it easy for them."

Lenzbox hopes to ease the pain of cleaning contact lenses

Cleaning contact lenses is a pretty cumbersome experience. But German company Lenzbox hopes to turn this "pain" into a "joy" with the press of a button. Lenzbox announced its product at Collision Conference, promising an "easy and safe all-in-one care system for contact lenses." The device is designed to protect your contact lenses against viruses and germs to maintain your eye health.

Lenzbox uses a patent-protected closed fluidic system, which the company claims comply with the highest hygienic standards. It's made to reduce the risk of eye infection significantly. It comes with a cartridge bag with a premium cleaning liquid, which you can replace when you use up. The Lenzbox is expected to ship later this year. If you want to try it out, Lenzbox has opened its waiting list for the limited early-bird version.

Apple's new iMacs Show Unified Product Design

Look at the latest iMac's thin and modular design and then look at the iPad Pro, iPad Air 4, and even the iPhone 12 and we're seeing the most unified design across all Apple products. The sleek unibody look, which lends itself well to colouring seems to be how Apple will design its products moving forward. The only remnants of the previous design convention are the MacBooks, the Intel iMacs, and the Mac Pro (which defies all design conventions).

It is likely we are starting to see the first Apple products from the post Jony Ive era. Ive liked rounded bezels and chamfered corners and seemed to like biomorphic designs that seemed oddly alive. The new Apple product design is definitel future-facing. These tablets and computers are top to bottom Apple products, so they have a more harmonious design focused on trimming off non-essential space (and, sadly, ports).

Roku unveils "Roku Originals"

In January, Roku announced the acquisition of streaming platform Quibi. Today Roku announces the content will be re-branded as "Roku Originals" and will be launched on The Roku Channel. Roku Originals will also be used moving forward for future original programming for the channel - the home of free, ad-supported entertainment on the Roku platform for viewers across Canada.
