Apple's new iPhone Duo leverages its foldable design to introduce a suite of camera experiences. Utilizing its external screen, the device introduces Duo Preview to display live viewfinders for subjects, Kid Cue to play Peanuts animations that capture children's attention, and high-resolution rear-camera selfies.
Wednesday, September 9, 2026 at 1:59PM Apple's first foldable phone is official. Instead of having a "fold"-related name, Apple opted to call it the iPhone Duo. The company claims it is its thinnest iPhone when unfolded, with a 7.6-inch inner display that is 50% larger than the iPhone 18 Pro Max and a 5.4-inch outer screen that has 90% of the iPhone 18 Pro's screen. Both screens have the same aspect ratio, so content scales proportionally to maintain visual continuity.
This foldable is built with grade 5 titanium and protected by Ceramic Shield on the back and Ceramic Shield 2 on the front, featuring "3x better" scratch resistance, and has a splash-, water-, and dust-resistant IP68 rating. The inner display has a scratch-resistant coating and a nano-texture finish that creates a seemingly flat matte surface that reduces crease visibility.
