Bell Fibe TV service now available on Apple TV

Apple TV has been a bit of a miss for Canadian viewers because it doesn't feature all the cool services that are available to US users. This is changing a bit today as Bell Fibe TV is now available on Apple TV, enabling consumers to experience television service alongside their music, photos, games and favourite apps on Apple TV 4th Generation.

"Fibe TV continues to be the fastest growing TV service in Canada because of our constant focus on delivering new and exclusive features and building great partnerships to make television better," said Rizwan Jamal, President of Bell Residential and Small Business. "Consumers can access Fibe TV through a receiver, on their computer or mobile device, and now, for the first time in Canada, on Apple TV."

Apple TV introduces new feature for live broadcasts

Apple is looking to bring live television to its set-top box with a new “Live Tune-In” feature. It allows you to get right into a live TV feed for certain apps. It’s tied with Siri and Apple TV’s voice-enabled Siri Remote so you can just utter a voice command like “Watch ESPN live” and it’ll launch this for you. Apple mentioned Disney XD and CBS as two apps that support this feature in the update’s splash screen. But for CBS app, you’ll need CBS All Access subscription. And Apple hasn’t indicated yet which apps work with the feature. At the moment, Food Network and ABC don’t work with it.

Twitter introduces simpler login option for tvOS

Trying to enter your username and password on Apple TV is a bit of a cumbersome affair. Twitter hopes to make it easier for you to login to your Apple TV with its Digits service being rolled out now to tvOS developers. The screen shows an authentication code which users enter at digits.com/appletv on a different device. This will complete the authentication process and personalized settings should take effect afterwards. And according to Twitter, it just needs a “few lines of code” for Digits to work.

Apple brings Categories to tvOS App Store

It can get cumbersome looking for apps to download for your Apple TV. Thankfully, Apple has decided to introduce its Categories section to the tvOS App Store. There are currently only two categories: Games and Entertainment. But those two seem to be central to the Apple TV experience anyway. Fourth-generation Apple TV owners will be able to find the Categories section at the top navigation bar of the App Store. If it isn’t there, force quit the App Store in the tvOS app switcher and then reopen.
