Get to tour the new Batcave with Google Street View

The new Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice might not be a hit with the critics but if you’re just a fan of Batman and all the cool gear he has, Google’s addition into the promotion bandwagon for the film might excite you. You can take a tour inside Bruce Wayne’s mansion and Batman’s lair through Google Street View. Google Maps even shows the real-world location of the lake house, which is in Orion Charter Township, Michigan. Some of the things you can see as you look around include his super-computer command station, the armored Batsuit, and different weapons as well as the defaced Robin suit on display.

Google denies dropping app drawer for Android

Hoping to quash fears and rumours that Android will be losing its app drawer, Google has denied there are plans to get rid of its app drawer in the near future. Android users were up in arms when a short clip on Google Maps’ Twitter account showed a Nexus 6P sans an app drawer. It’s a blink or miss it sort of thing of the first two seconds of the clip. But hawk eye users were speculating this might be the start of Android dropping its app drawer to mimic the iOS approach of having all apps on the home screen. Google says the user interface shown in the video is a bad mockup of the app and it doesn’t hint at anything coming up in terms of UI changes.

Google Maps for iOS gets offline navigation

Following updates on Android, Google Maps gets a new bunch of features. These include offline maps support, which lets you save a portion of the map onto your iPhone or iPad. The new update also lets you get turn-by-turn navigation, business hours, and contact details while offline. These maps will stay on your device for 30 days. Unfortunately, mass transit, walking, and biking directions still need to be accessed online.

Maps on iOS update also now gets gas prices and the ability to see when local businesses are busy throughout the week or on a given day.

Google introduces Local Guides on Maps

Exploring a new city or new spots in your town? Google is asking the help of the locals to give you a hand. This Local Guides feature is new for Maps and is meant to give its users access to people who are familiar with the area. This title is given to top reviewers on the app who know their city enough and want to talk about the best spots in town. You get to become a Local Guide if you have at least 50+ reviews under your belt. If this is something that interests you too, you can check it out here and find out how to join.
