Leaked press renders of the upcoming Sony Xperia Z5 surfaces

We're a week away from IFA 2015 in Berlin and the leaks have started to show. Sony's upcoming flagship, the Xperia Z5, gets leaked ahead of the big tech event. Sony teased the device on social media before. But this leaked press render shows us a clearer shot of slightly rounded edges. It'll also reportedly sport a 23-megapixel camera. The other previously speculated features of the phone include it running on Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 and packing in 4GB of RAM, a 4K display, and fingerprint scanner. It will also supposedly be a "Made for Bond" device, meaning it'll be tied to the upcoming James Bond film.

Huawei debuts new Ascend Mate phablet

Huawei unveiled at IFA its new phablet, the Ascend Mate 7. This 6-inch device brings a bump in specs including a new 1080p display, 4100mAh battery, LTE Cat6 connectivity, and a single touch fingerprint sensor. Despite its size, it also has an amazingly thin bezel and 7.9mm thinness. It will also carry Huawei’s new Kirin 925 octa-core processor, which is made up of four large A15 1.8GHz and four small A7 1.3GHz chipsets. This big.LITTLE configuration means the 1.3GHz A7 cores will handle the lighter tasks, while the remaining four cores will take on the more processor-intensive apps.

The Ascend Mate 7 also packs in a 13-megapixel rear camera with a Sony sensor and 5-megapixel front-facing camera. It runs on Android 4.4 with Huawei’s EMUI 3.0 on top. It will come in two flavours: 16GB model with 2GB of RAM and 32GB model with 3GB of RAM. Prices so far are 499 and 599 Euros, respectively.

Asus unveils first Android Wear smartwatch, new MeMO Pad and ZenBook

Asus is bringing their own set of new devices to IFA 2014 in Berlin, including their entry into the Android Wear smartwatch market.

The ZenWatch is an Android Wear-powered device that features an AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It comes with a heart rate monitor in front of the case that would need you to press your finger against the screen to measure your heart rate. Since it works with Asus Wellness app, it can also measure other fitness markers. It has a more traditional look with its stitched leather strap. Other features include Asus Remote Camera, presentation control, as well as the ability to auto-unlock your phone with the ZenWatch.

Samsung at IFA: Note 4 and Note Edge angle for the premium phablet market

Samsung is currently unveiling the new Galaxy Note 4 as well as an entirely new Note Edge with a partly angled screen which reveals various controls and options depending on which app is being used. The launch event at IFA in Berlin clearly shows that Samsung is making an upmarket move. Not only is the new Note 4 a more premium device overall than most Samsung handsets in the past, Samsung's associated itself with some premium fashion brands for accessories. Mont Blanc and Swarovski were some of the premium companies said to be partnering with Samsung to create accessories for the new devices. Stay tuned for more developments out of IFA.
