Disney’s new ‘Star Wars’ and Marvel films to its own streaming service instead of Netflix

We heard last month that Disney planned to put up its own streaming service set to come out late 2019. And that meant it’ll be pulling out of their deal with Netflix that just took effect about a year ago. While we knew that the upcoming Disney films that will be coming out that year will be available on that service instead of on Netflix, the Star Wars and Marvel films were a mystery. Until now that is. Disney CEO Bob Iger announced at the Bank of America Merrill Lynch 2017 Media, Communications & Entertainment Conference that upcoming movies like the fourth Avengers film, Frozen 2, the live action The Lion King, and Star Wars: Episode IX will be shown on its own service instead of on Netflix. Disney’s streaming service will also be home to four exclusive movies and between four and five TV shows.

But for the upcoming immediate Marvel and Star Wars titles. Those still have a home at Netflix. These include Thor: Ragnarok, Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and the untitled Han Solo movie. We don’t know what the fate of the Netflix-exclusive Marvel shows will be, though.

Doctor Strange makes appearance in New ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ Japanese trailer

Thor: Ragnarok—or as it’s being called in Japan, Thor: Battle Royale—gets a new trailer as we near the release date of the film (it comes out November 3rd here). But while it’s pretty standard and showed off some of the clips we’ve seen before. The opening of the trailer shows us something, or should we say, someone new. Doctor Strange makes an appearance at the start of the trailer talking to Thor about a “great change” happening in his future. It might seem like a random appearance but it makes sense as Thor appeared in the mid-credits scene of Doctor Strange with them talking about Asgardian affairs.

Spidey gets techie in new ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ trailers

With Spider-Man back in the Marvel fold, we’re getting to see how Peter Parker’s Spidey ties into the whole Marvel Cinematic Universe story. And the two new trailers show us how they’re connected and what’s different with Spider-Man this time around.

As you can see in the trailer above, Spider-Man: Homecoming has to be the most tech-inclined Spider-Man movie to date. Tony Stark a.k.a. Iron Man takes Peter under his wing and gives him some cool tech in the process. The tech comes with strings attached, or in his case, some form of parental control. And it seems Peter is having trouble with being the “friendly, neighbourhood Spider-Man.”

Here’s the first teaser trailer for Marvel’s ‘Inhumans’

Marvel’s new show gets its first teaser trailer and it’s giving off a bit of a Game of Thrones vibe with the whole dysfunctional brother relationship. It also doesn’t help that the villain, Maximus, is played by GoT’s Ramsay Bolton a.k.a. Iwan Rheon. It seems trouble is brewing between Maximus and his brother Black Bolt, who is played by Anson Mount. Maximus seems to want to overthrow Black Bolt, who happens to be the King of the Inhumans. We’re sure there are going to be more teasers in the coming months. The show is going to be making its IMAX debut on September 1st.
