OnePlus teases 'special project' with cryptic photo and video

OnePlus is cooking something up, but we can't exactly say what that is if we base it on the company's latest teaser. A tweet on the OnePlus UK account states, "We're working on something really cool and we really can't tell you yet. To be continued." Rumours about the upcoming OnePlus 8 have already started surfacing, so it's logical to think it's related to that. Some of the recent speculations suggest one of the phones in the series will come with wireless charging, while all three units will feature hole-punch displays. But we can't exactly say how the image relates to that. Some people on Twitter are speculating the company might be working on a foldable device or power bank.

But then, the company also tweeted recently that it's working on a "special project" that isn't a phone or commercial product. And then showed off a quick clip a few hours ago showing off the mystery project and the words "Making progress." The date 03.03.2020 was also seen at the end of the clip. What's your guess? What do you think OnePlus is cooking up?

This is what the OnePlus Concept One looks like in black leather

A OnePlus employee shows off a black leather concept phone that's based on the Concept One phone the company revealed at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas earlier this month. Yes, the one with the "disappearing" rear cameras. It's the same as the McLaren concept, but it's all black and featuring a leather case that seems chunkier than the other concept. It's a sleek-looking device we actually wish OnePlus would eventually use for future phones.

CES 2020: OnePlus Concept One offers solution for pesky camera bumps

Maybe you're not a fan of unusual, pesky camera bumps that slightly jut out of the back of your phone. OnePlus has a solution for you (sort of). The company collaborated once again with McLaren to introduce the OnePlus Concept One. It is technically a vamped up OnePlus 7T Pro with a papaya-hued leather that the automaker is known for; but, it also has another material inspired by McLaren: the glass it uses for its sunroofs.

The rear cameras of the OnePlus Concept One are hidden under an incredibly thin slice of material called electrochromic glass. The glass can turn from opaque to transparent when a voltage is applied to it. OnePlus used four ultra-fine layers of solitary glass panels and the thinnest electrochromic glass in the industry right in the middle of that. The OnePlus Concept One's glass can shift from opaque to transparent in just 0.7 seconds, which the company claims is another industry speed record.

OnePlus 8 Lite prototypes with triple-camera setup leaked online

OnePlus is reportedly releasing a "Lite" version of the OnePlus 8. And now, we're getting a look at the rumoured device. Leaker Ishan Agarwal (@ishanagarwal24 on Twitter) shared images of the OnePlus 8 Lite spotted in a Chinese video with CEO Pete Lau. Agarwal noted the phone looks taller and that it doesn't look like the previously leaked CAD renders were accurate as the phone has a triple-camera setup with flash on the side.

Other rumoured specs of the OnePlus 8 Lite include 8GB of RAM, 128GB or 256GB of internal storage, a MediaTek 100 processor, 4,000mAh battery, and 6.4-inch AMOLED display. At this point, we aren't sure how accurate the images or these specs are, so make sure to take this leak and the others like it with a grain of salt.
