The ‘OnePlus 5’ gets leaked

Speculation about OnePlus’ next device have already started to surface. The rumoured “OnePlus 5” is supposedly getting its name because the number four is considered bad luck in China so we might not see a OnePlus 4 show up. According to Chinese site PCPop, the OnePlus 5 will be carrying flagship worthy specs like its predecessors. Like the recently launched Samsung Galaxy S8, it’ll have very thin bezels and a fingerprint sensor at the back but should be in a more central position. Like the S8, it’s said to not be sporting a physical home button, too. As expected, there aren’t any actual photos of the device yet but PCPop offered the mockup shot above.

The OnePlus 5 is rumoured to be running on Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, 8GB of RAM, 5.5-inch 2K resolution display, and 3,000mAh battery. It’ll supposedly just be 7mm thick and have a 23-megapixel dual lens rear camera with optical zoom and optical image stabilization. No word yet about when this device could launch or how much it’ll cost. But if we follow OnePlus’ previous releases it should come out in the summer and come at a competitive price.

OnePlus 3 to get Nougat update before end of 2016

Sometimes we wish all manufacturers roll out Android updates as quickly as they can. One company who is trying to get it right is OnePlus. After merging its two separate software teams (the China-only HydrogenOS and OxygenOS), OnePlus has announced that OnePlus 3 owners will be getting the community build of Android 7.0 Nougat in the next few weeks, while the final build will be out before the end of the year. OnePlus 2 users will have to wait a bit, the phone is promised to be getting Nougat also but there is no specific timeframe for it.

OnePlus set to out new hardware on November 15

There is a new OnePlus device heading our way in five days. At least that is what we glean from the new teaser from the company. OnePlus tweeted on its official account that the Snapdragon 821 is “coming your way” on a device the company is referring to as T-7. The processor is what you see in the Google Pixel and will definitely be an upgrade to the OnePlus 3’s 820 processor. That isn’t much to go on but the reveal is almost here so we just have to sit tight and wait.

Chinese regulator gives us first glimpse of OnePlus Two

Leaks of the OnePlus Two and its design have been circulating for a while now. But as was suspected, those were all just fakes. We now get a closer look at what the device looks like thanks to Chinese regulator TENAA (the Chinese equivalent of the FCC). The device looks rather similar to a Samsung one with its physical home button with silver accent, which we know will serve as a fingerprint scanner. The OnePlus One didn’t have any physical buttons before. There doesn’t seem to be a metallic bezel this time around so you get glass all the way in front. The device itself seems narrower and taller.

It seems the rear-facing camera has been moved further down with its dual-LED flash. There also seems to be a second sensor of sorts, which Cult of Android speculates could be something of a laser autofocus system like the one in the G3 and G4. There also seems to be a small groove on the bottom left of the device, which hopefully means the OnePlus Two’s back cover can be removed easier than its predecessor. There also seems to be a button placed at the left side of the device, it’s not clear yet what that additional button could be. Because it seems the power button might be under the volume rocker located at the right side.
