We might see Samsung’s foldable Galaxy X smartphone next month

It might seem like a long shot but a teaser for Samsung’s upcoming developer conference hints at the appearance of the rumoured foldable Galaxy X phone. The South Korean company is drumming up excitement for the press conference by tweeting an animation that shows two lines unfold from a single hinge to form a right facing arrow pointing at the dates of the conference (November 7, 2018). The words “Where Now Meets Next” appear next to it. We won’t be surprised if we do see, at the very least, a prototype of the phone as Samsung’s mobile chief DJ Koh has previously hinted that we would see the phone before the end of the year but it’ll be available in 2019.

Samsung might offer a Galaxy S10 model with flat display

Review: Samsung Galaxy S9Samsung might be taking its cue from Apple’s latest release and will be offering a third Galaxy S10 model that could be considered an “entry-level” phone and one featuring a flat display. Since Samsung launched the Galaxy S8, the company has done away with flat displays for its flagship models. The rumour this time is there might be one more affordable variant of the upcoming flagship. This third model will reportedly have a 5.8-inch flat display, carry a single camera sensor in the back, and won’t pack in a display-based fingerprint sensor. Meanwhile, the successors of the Galaxy S9 and S9+ will carry 5.8-inch and 6.44-inch curved displays, respectively.

If Samsung were developing a more affordable version of the S10, it would make sense to out a device with a flat display to help cut costs. Now, we have to wait until next year to see if there is any truth to these rumours.

Samsung’s foldable phone might get a big curved battery

Samsung hasn’t officially acknowledged its foldable Galaxy X but rumour has it the device will be coming next year and its foldable display panels might be going into mass production this summer—if there aren’t any issues, that is. But, of course, the screen isn’t the only flexible thing in the phone, its other components should be, too. A new report shows what the batteries could look like. It’s supposedly being developed by Samsung SDI and comes in a V shape. Capacity is said to be anywhere between 3,000mAh and 6,000mAh. The expectation or hope is for it to be as high as possible, given that the rumoured device will have a screen that’ll be at 7.3 inches when opened and 4.5 inches when folded. Of course, this could all change but for now, it shows us what we could be getting. Is a foldable phone something you’d want to own?

Lenovo Z5 and its rumoured outrageous specs will make June 5th debut

There is a lot going on with the Lenovo Z5 (or ZUK Z5) that we’re not sure if the degree of its outrageousness might warrant some truth to it. Lenovo Group VP Chang Cheng announced on Weibo that the phone is debuting on June 5^th, showing the official poster for the event. Cheng has been dropping hints about this device in the past few weeks. And one of the biggest things is that almost 95 percent screen-to-body ratio, which we see in the sketch above. The only other company who has gotten this close to this ratio is the Vivo Apex. A couple of the other hints he’s dropped include 4TB internal storage and up to 45 days of standby time. Now, whether these all ring true is something we’re going to find out in a few days.
