Facebook to soon allow you to transfer photos and videos to Google Photos

It will soon be possible to export your Facebook photos and videos by bulk to other online services. But the social network will be starting with Google Photos, and it will be coming to Ireland first. The feature is part of the Data Transfer Project, which is an agreement between Google, Microsoft, Facebook, and Twitter to allow easy, bulk transfers between services. Facebook intends to roll out the feature globally in the first half of 2020.

Google Photos lets you share one-off photos easily in its app

It's now easier to share individual pictures on Google Photos. If you want to share a specific photograph, you can do so in a private chat within the app. It will also let you comment and like photos in the conversation and even save what has been shared into your gallery.

It isn't meant to take the place of other chat apps, but Google hopes to make it easier to share images and videos within its app. The feature is rolling out gradually over the coming week on mobile (Android and iOS) and through the web.
