Netflix tests shuffle button, ability to remove a show/movie from 'Continue Watching'

Netflix is testing out some new features for its Android app that might be useful for you. One is being able to shuffle TV show episodes. Another is letting you take out shows and movies from your Continue Watching row. There's a new three-button overflow menu that replaces the information button. When you tap on that, there are options for play, information/episodes, as well as options for rating, sharing or seeing similar content. As we mentioned, a new "Remove from Row" feature that lets you take out the show from your Continue Watching section. The only way to do that now is through heading into your account settings on the web. Here's to hoping Netflix decides to roll these features out to all its users.

Apple now owns Intel's smartphone modem business

Apple has completed its acquisition of Intel's mobile modem business. The deal was announced back in July with a value of US$1 billion (around CA$1.3 billion). Apple plans to leverage Intel's modems to develop its technology, particularly when it comes to its iPhones. The goal is for the company to lessen its reliance on third-party suppliers for its components.

In the meantime, you can still expect Apple to use Qualcomm's modems. The two feuding companies reached a US$4.5 billion (around CA$6 billion) settlement back in May, resuming their business with each other. As for Intel, the company can still develop its 5G networks and modems, but for non-smartphone applications like in vehicles and PCs.

Stadia's wireless controller will support smartphones, other devices in 2020

At last month's launch, the Stadia wireless controller only supported Chromecast Ultra that came with the bundle (although there seemed to be some exceptions). But this will change in the coming year. According to 9to5Googlethe wireless controller for the game streaming service will support other devices like smartphones, tablets, desktops, and laptops. An updated Google Store listing hints at Stadia supporting wireless connectivity on more devices in 2020, possibly through a software-side update.

The current workaround is that Stadia supports third-party controllers like those for the Microsoft Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, or Sony PlayStation 4. Google has more plans for its Stadia platform, including expanded support and new features. All of which should also come in the new year.
