M. Night Shyamalan's 'Servant' series is coming to Apple TV+ on November 28th

While it won't be premiering alongside the streaming service on November 1st, M. Night Shyamalan's Servant will be coming to Apple TV+ before the end of the same month. Apple announced at New York Comic-Con that the series will launch on November 28th. And it's a story about a Philadelphia couple who brings home a life-like doll after losing their baby. For some reason, they hire a mysterious nanny to take care of it. 

When Shyamalan signed his deal with Apple, reports claim the company ordered 10 episodes of the series. But if people like it, there might be more. Deadline reports that the director sees this story as a lengthy saga that can spread over six seasons with 10 episodes each.

Google integrates 'password checkup' into its password manager

If you're a Google user, you would know the tech giant offers a password manager that syncs across Chrome and your Android devices. Now, the service adds a "password checkup" feature that analyzes your logins to make sure these aren't part of a massive security breach. This feature was previously available as an extension, but now it's being added right into your account controls, and you'll see it at the forefront of passwords.google.com. It's similar to what site haveibeenpwned.com is doing.

Your login credentials will be compared to the millions of known comprised accounts to see if your account has been part of any significant breach. According to Google, it monitors the dark web to some extent for collections of passwords. But for the most part, it makes password comparisons by crawling through the open web. And if it finds that any of your passwords are part of a breach, Google will encourage you to change this password. It'll also let you know if you're using weak passwords. The company promises that the passwords are hashed and encrypted before it's sent to Google, and that "it has no way of seeing your data." Also, that "any warning that's generated about your details is entirely local to your machine."

Microsoft Surface Laptop 3 comes in 13- and 15-inch sizes

At its recent event, one of the new devices Microsoft announced is its refreshed Surface Laptop 3, which now comes in two screen sizes: 13.5-inch and 15-inch models. It also comes in either tone-on-tone Alcantara or the new machined aluminum all-metal finish. The 13-inch model has been updated to run on 10th-generation Intel Core processors, while the 15-inch option runs on new AMD Ryzen Surface Edition processors. 

These laptops offer a full 1.33mm key travel and a 20-percent bigger glass trackpad with both USB-A and USB-C ports. The Surface Laptop 3 provides fast-charging, too, with the ability to charge from zero to 80 percent in an hour. The front camera has been improved, and it comes with OmniSonic speakers and dual far-field Studio Mics for excellent audio quality. Pricing starts at US$999 (around CA$1,330) for the 13-inch model and $1,199 (around $1,600) for the 15-inch version.

If you have a Telus Peace of Mind plan and use an iPhone, it'll be easier to monitor your data use now. The iOS app has been updated to shows your data use, so you'll know when you've used up your high-speed data and are about to enter throttled speeds. Speeds are throttled to 512Kbps when you've exceeded your data limit. It's still usable for messaging and browsing emails, but you won't be able to stream video without interruptions.
