Hotels.com gets Siri Shortcut

Tracking down your hotel booking on Hotels.com is going to be an easier, hands-free experience with support for Siri Shortcut. The company boasts it’s one of the first travel companies to support Siri Shortcut on its mobile app. If you’ve already updated to iOS 12, all you need to do is open the Hotels.com app and click the “Add to Siri” button and record the voice command relevant to your stay.

Daniel Craig, VP of Mobile at Hotels.com brand explains: “How many times have you arrived at an airport, with your hands full of luggage and you can’t find your confirmation email or print out—it’s now voice to the rescue! The Hotels.com Siri Shortcut takes the hassle out of travelling, by surfacing the key information you need in just one voice command. Handsfree travel is a growing trend and this new feature is perfect for today’s on-the-go travellers, who demand instant information at their fingertips, or should I now say at the tip of their tongue!”

Loki and Scarlet Witch among other MCU stars tipped to limited series on Disney’s streaming service

Expect to see Tom Hiddleston’s Loki and Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch to appear on a TV, tablet, smartphone, or any other mobile device you have on hand once Disney launches its own streaming service. At least Variety reports that the two Marvel heroes (or antihero) among other “second tier” Marvel Cinematic Universe characters will be getting limited series centered on their stories/characters. The site mentions these two actors and characters specifically might be getting shows that include around six to eight episodes. Unlike its other TV shows that are under Marvel TV Studios, these will be developed by Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige will be taking a “hands-on role” in the production.

There are no writers attached to the projects yet and storylines are supposedly being “teased out.” The article claims Disney looks to be “holding back some significant fire power for the big screen.” Don’t expect Avengers who got their own movies to get TV shows, though. Disney is reportedly going to be spending heavily on these productions with budgets that can rival those of other major studio productions. But it needs to bet big if it is to go against its bigger streaming rivals. We don’t know much about the endeavor beyond Disney saying it will cost less than Netflix and will launch late in 2019.

New teaser shows the Huawei Mate 20 Pro’s rectangular camera setup

Earlier this month at IFA, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro was reportedly seen on the floor sporting a rectangular camera setup. And now it seems Huawei itself is confirming this configuration. A new teaser for the upcoming launch suggests this is the case.

The leaked images suggest Huawei is retaining its triple-camera setup with an LED flash fitted into that square camera module. In front, the Mate 20 Pro is rumoured to sporting a wide notch to house Huawei’s face scanning technology, while the Mate 20 will have a smaller notch for its single front-facing camera. We’ll confirm all these and more when Huawei launches the phones on October 16th in London.

YouTube Gaming will be shut down in March 2019

Three years since it first launched, YouTube is getting rid of its YouTube Gaming app in March 2019. The dedicated gaming app didn’t reach a big enough audience with users sticking to watching gaming-related content on the main YouTube app. So, what the company is doing is bringing some of these gaming-specific features and content to the main YouTube site. The new location for all the gaming-related content will be “youtube.com/gaming” and will feature recommended gaming videos at the top, a list of popular livestreams, and content from existing subscriptions. From this location, you’ll also be able to favorite specific games so YouTube can use its algorithm to find recommendations for you. There will also be a part of the trending section reserved for “On The Rise” creators. This will focus on the good yet underappreciated videos from smaller creators and help them reach a larger audience. The features are launching first in the US and will be coming to other countries soon.
