Apple’s September 9 launch will be the first event Windows users can live stream

The upcoming Apple event will be the first time Windows users will be able to officially live stream an Apple presentation. You can see it on the fine print of the launch site. This time though the Windows 10 built-in Microsoft Edge browser has software that supports the same HTTP Live Streaming technology found in Apple software like Safari and QuickTime. Usually, only people using OS X, iOS, or an Apple TV device could do so. Some used workarounds through software like VLC.

Pocket brings out of beta its story and video recommendation feature

All Pocket users on Android, iOS, and the web will now be seeing stories that matter to them with its new recommendations feature. Previously in beta, this feature will now actively send you links to curated stories from around the web. Some of them will be specialized based on the topics you’ve saved before. Pocket hopes this feature will bring you the stories that are of interest to you. "[W]ith Recommendations," the company says, "we want to use this insight to help you spend time with more high-quality content, no matter how noisy it gets."

Get millions of filters for your Instagram needs with Infltr

Feel limited by the number of filters offered on Instagram? Then you should check out Infltr. The US$1.99 iOS app claims they offer 5.1 million different hues on its app. You won’t be tapping on presets to get through these colors. You’ll be swiping around an invisible color map to make edits to your shots. You can keep track of what you’ve applied as a small color bubble appears under your fingertip. You can also choose a color to apply before you capture an image to get the effect you want instantly.

Meet Facebook’s hybrid virtual assistant M

It’s like Siri and Cortana but not really. It’s more than that. At least, that’s what Facebook claims its new virtual assistant is. It’s genderless for one, making it more like Google Now than the aforementioned assistants from Apple and Microsoft. Another is it doesn’t just purely rely on AI; there’s a human element to it at the moment. Called the M trainers, these people make the tough call when a request seems too complicated for the AI. The service is being tested now around the Bay Area in the US and Facebook hopes to bring this to all Messenger users.
