You don’t have to define your gender on Facebook anymore

Last year social network Facebook worked with GLAAD to generate custom genders, such as transgender and cisgender, but it wasn’t universally well-received because users were still boxed in by pre-selected options. Facebook seems to have scrapped that and now has a custom gender field. It still populates suggestions as you type but you can put in whatever gender you want to represent yourself on the site, similar to the “infinite” gender options on Google+. Aside from that, you can choose the pronoun you want to be called on the site. You can even tweak your privacy settings for gender if you just want a select audience that can see your gender. There isn’t any word though how fast the roll out of the option is. So best keep your eye out for it.

YouTube on Android lets you trim your videos before you upload

If you wanted to upload a video from your Android device to YouTube before, you would need to upload the entire clip. Now, YouTube is making it easier for you to take out that awkward beginning or ending pre-upload. You can now trim videos on the Android version of the app. It features two control points and you can trim almost up to 1/30th of a second. Just hold down on either of the control points and it’ll zoom in for you and let you trim almost frame by frame. It isn’t available yet on the iOS version of the app but we should be seeing that in the future.

Link Google Drive files with Google Calendar for Android

Google is adding even more functionality to its Calendar app on Android with the latest update. You can now associate Google Drive files to events. So, if you want people to see what the agenda is for your next meeting, you don’t have to send it in a separate email.

Other than that, Google Calendar also gets a seven-day week view, pinch-to-zoom navigation, and the ability to import .ICS calendar files you get through email. They’re rolling it out now and should be hitting your device soon. If you’re on iOS, you just have to wait a bit more, Google is working on it.
