CES 2015: Lenovo introduces wearable with E Ink display

We were expecting more and more wearable devices to make their debut at CES. Throwing their hat into the ring once again, Lenovo just introduced the VIBE Band with E Ink display. This new wearable promises a seven-day battery life. It can display notifications for calls, SMS, Facebook, Twitter, and more but it can show you no more than 150 characters. It also works as a fitness band but it’ll just track the basics like steps and sleep. The VIBE Band will run with both iOS and Android devices running 4.3 and above out of the box. It’ll cost US$89, which is a pretty competitive price. No word yet on availability though.

CES 2015: Volkswagen to support both Android Auto and CarPlay

Volkswagen is getting in on the connected car game by using both Google's and Apple's platforms. Apple's CarPlay and Google's Android Auto will both be available later this year. These platforms will work on their MIB II dash electronics, which was launched in some countries last year and will come to the US and Europe later this year. There isn't a specific date for the launch yet but the dashboard will also support MirrorLink, a technology supported by Sony.

Details surface about Twitter's upcoming video service

Twitter previously announced that it will be putting up a video service much like YouTube as part of its growth strategy. A Twitter user was able to dig up details on the service. Daniel Raffel found the FAQ page for the service and shows bits and pieces of information about the service.

The service will support MP4 and .mov types as well as .jpg and .png for thumbnails. Suggested video aspect ratio is 16:9 with a maximum of 10 minutes per video. No limit on file size though. It will be called Twitter Video and it will have a publishing tool that will have an Upload button in the dashboard as well as quick access for tweeting. Videos will appear in-line on Twitter, much like how they display YouTube videos at the moment.

CES 2015: LG teases G Flex 2

It isn't exactly a well-guarded secret but LG all but confirmed its latest device that'll be debuting at CES 2015. LG has put up posters at the International Consumer Electronics Show 2015 revealing the LG G Flex 2. It doesn't say much except it has the tagline "redefining the curve." What we do know about it now is that it will be powered by Qualcomm. We just have to wait a bit more to find out what LG has up its sleeves.
