Google gets rid of user testimonials on Play Store

Google updated its Play Store guidelines for developers to ban them from including customer testimonials in the app or game description portion. They want to make sure it takes out any misleading or irrelevant keywords that might affect relevancy and ranking. They want Android users instead to speak about the apps or games through the Play’s comment review system.

‘The Interview’ now streaming on various streaming platforms

In case you missed it, Sony backtracked on its decision to not release The Interview following the infamous Sony hack. While major retailers refused to release the movie in their cinemas, online you can stream the movie on Google Play, YouTube Movies, Microsoft’s Xbox Video, or through the Sony-built site, Seetheinterview.com. You can buy the film for US$15 or rent it for $6. Apple, Netflix, and Amazon have not disclosed plans to distribute the film.

Spotify adds snowfall animation to Android app

It doesn’t matter if you’re playing Christmas songs or not, Spotify wants to make things feel a bit more festive with its Android app. If you’ve been using your Android app in the last few days, you’ll notice that snow is falling on the Play window of the app. We’re not sure if this animation will last until the end of the month but enjoy it while it lasts.

Google+ for iOS gets sharing option

Google has updated its Google+ app for iOS. The latest update brings Google’s social network app in higher resolution to better support Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. It also gets the direct sharing option, which has been absent for Google+ users on iOS for a while. Aside from that, Google+ users also now get the ability to vote on polls.
