Microsoft reportedly creating new cloud service

It looks like Microsoft is working on new CDN or CDN-based service. According to domain names and trademark applications filed by the Redmond-based company, the cloud service might be called Sway. DotWeekly’s Jamie Zoch spotted that Microsoft bought Sway.com as well as other variations of that domain and these links re-direct to Microsoft’s Bing browser when you click on them. Meanwhile, the trademark filing describes Sways as a computer software application, software as a service, and online computer software. We’re not sure yet when they plan on launching this service or the specifics of it but we will keep you posted on any updates.

Apple hires former social media head at Nike

It seems like Apple is looking to boost its social media presence with its latest hire. The Cupertino-based tech giant has just hired the former social media head of Nike and Burberry, Musa Tariq. He was most recently the global senior director of social media and community, digital brand for Nike from 2012 to this year. And he was with Burberry from 2009 to 2012 and served as the global director for digital marketing. He became the head of the social media accounts of Burberry in 2011, which was run by Angela Ahrendts, the current retail chief of Apple. Perhaps, Apple is looking to step up its presence on the different social networking sites, particularly since there are no official Twitter or Facebook accounts for the Apple brand itself.

Google tipped to unbundle Photo Gallery from Google+

Google has previously consolidated its Android photo and video gallery into an app called photos. A report from Bloomberg claims this might come to an end soon and we might not see the Gallery app anytime soon. Google will reportedly separate its photo services from Google+ so anyone can access them without having an account on their social network. This reported photo service will be considered a self-serving entity, much like how Instagram is separate from Facebook. If these rumours are true, we think it would be a good idea so that more people will gain access to more photo features on their Android devices.

WhatsApp comes to Android Wear, lets you reply to messages right from your wrist

It’s not really being publicized yet but a WhatsApp update will let you access the app right from your Android Wear-powered smartwatch. The official download from WhatsApp’s site doesn’t specify the Android Wear-related features but you when you manually download the app, it will show up on your Android device. And the app doesn’t just send you notifications, it lets you read stacked conversation messages and reply to them using your voice. We might see it on the Google Play Store soon but if you can’t wait to get it, you can grab the download here.
