Google adds Hangouts plugin to Microsoft Outlook

Google is making it easier for office workers to start Hangouts session at work with its new plugin. The Hangouts plugin is designed to let you start or join Hangouts sessions directly in Microsoft Outlook’s mail or calendar functionality. The condition is you would need to have a Google Apps account.

You will need to download and install the Hangouts Plugin. After installing you will then see an icon that lets you schedule a new Hangout or join an existing one. You can find out more information here.

Google to reportedly release Android 4.4.3 to Nexus devices on May 23

While the rumour mill is abuzz with news that the Nexus line is on its way out, the current line of Nexus devices are tipped to be getting the new Android 4.4.3 update next week. Cult of Android reports the Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7, and Nexus 10 will be getting the update on May 23, Friday. It will include a number of bug fixes and help refine the platform further. It isn’t confirmed if all four Nexus devices will be getting the software update on the same day or when the Google Play Edition devices will be getting the update. It is still a rumour at the moment. We will most likely here more about the update and other Android news at the upcoming Google I/O conference.

Samsung adds extra smarts and tougher case for tablets used in schools

Tablets meant for use at school require a bit more protection from kids’ usual antics. That is why Samsung made a classroom ready version of its Galaxy Tab 4 Education. The 10.1-inch tablet has made its debut in the US and it comes with a rugged case to help survive the falls that might happen. The tablet also has access to educational apps, videos, and books through Google Play for Education. The device comes at a premium price though at US$370. And if you want access to Google Play, you will need pay an additional $30.
