Facebook drops the ax on Messenger for Windows

Facebook decided to withdraw support for Messenger for Windows starting March 3. PCWorld reports the social networking service did not divulge its reason for pulling support for the app. Facebook users on Windows though can still access messaging features on Facebook’s site. The messenger app is barely two years old and had been well-received by Windows users with over half of the ratings worth five stars.

But Facebook is pushing through with plans developing Messenger for Windows Phone. Perhaps, this is the social network’s way of transitioning to mobile.

Nokia X won’t come to Canada

We knew the Nokia X line targeted the emerging market. True enough the Nokia X, X+, and XL won’t be arriving on our shores. Ubergizmo reports that Nokia’s Vice President of mobile phone marketing Jussi Nevanlinna confirmed that Canada, the U.S., Japan, and South Korea won’t be getting the new devices.

The phones feature forked versions of Android with Microsoft services taking the place of Google. It also has its own app store. The devices will all cost less than US$150, which is why they are expected to do well in emerging markets.

Asus introduces two official docks for Nexus 7

Asus doesn’t think it’s too late to release accessories for the 2013 Nexus 7 tablet. The Taiwanese company introduced two docking stations for the device. One needs users to plug the tablet into the station. Another has wireless charging capabilities. The non-wireless dock features an HDMI-out port. The docks lets you use the tablet in landscape or portrait mode.

Both accessories are available for purchase on Amazon. The FH Dock costs $49.99 and the PW100 Wireless Charger costs $89.99.

Google brings Nexus 5’s Google Now Launcher to Android flagships

Google has released its Google Now Launcher on the Nexus 5 as a standalone app for Nexus and Play edition devices. The app now brings the “Ok Google” hotword voice searches and view of the contextual cards to other Android users. Unfortunately, we’re not sure if Google plans on bringing the app to other Android devices outside of the flagships.
