HTC reveals Desire 8 teaser image on Weibo

HTC just confirmed leaks of a new Android smartphone with the release of a teaser image on China’s Weibo social network. The Desire 8 looks to have an all-plastic build with lock button and volume rocker on the side. It also has front-facing grills at the top and bottom of the device for that “Boom Sound” feature.

Chinese site MyDrivers reported the handset will be a mid-range device with a 5.5-inch display. It will also supposedly come with a 13-megapixel rear camera and 5.5-inch front camera. These specs have not been confirmed but the photo on the teaser looks the same as the leaked image from the site.

Google has just acquired the recently launched SlickLogin. The company introduced a new concept for account security. SlickLogin will verify a user’s identity with the help of a website meant to generate a unique and almost silent sound that will be played over the computer speakers. And then an app on your phone will pick up and analyze the sound and then send it back to the site to confirm your identity. We will inform you about details of the acquisition once more information surface.
