Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 arrives in Canada

The 2014 edition of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 lands on Canadian soil and will be up for sale starting Friday, Nov. 8. The Galaxy Note 10.1 carries over S Pen functionalities from the first 10.1-inch tablet such as Action Memo, Air Command, Pen Window and Scrapbook and comes with 3GB RAM and 8-core Exynos processor.

This Samsung tablet will be available in Class White at Best Buy, Future Shop and other retailers. Those who plan on buying the new Note 10.1 before Nov. 30 will also get three months free streaming music access through Rdio, two-year 50GB storage from Dropbox, $20 Samsung Apps gift card, and two free e-books from the For Dummies book series.

Help the youth through Virgin Mobile’s RE*Generation project

‘Tis the season to do some good again. Virgin Mobile has launched its RE*Generation movement, which supports homeless and at-risk youth in Canada. You can help by purchasing Samsung Galaxy Ace II x from Virgin Mobile stores and online for $15 of the sale will go to the movement. You can find out more information here. Or as a Virgin Mobile Member, you can ask to add $1 to your monthly phone bill and will see that additional dollar donated to the Virgin Unite project.

You can also attend the Serena Ryder Benefit Concert on Dec. 11 at the Montréal Virgin Mobile Corona Theatre. The show is co-sponsored by Dans la Rue and you can purchase tickets online for $20 per ticket. And if you want a more direct approach, you can donate $5 to RE*Generation by texting REGEN to 30333.

Canadian students welcome to join BlackBerry Build A Village Award Program

BlackBerry is giving 50 Canadian students a chance to work as a volunteer in Oloirion, Kenya and Veradera, India for the BlackBerry Build A Village Award Program. Students between the ages 14 and 18 can submit their entries now until Jan. 15 through this link. Students have to show leadership qualities, passion, empathy, traits of initiative, maturity and the contributions they have made to their local community.

The program already gave 150 students from Waterloo a chance to be part of this amazing opportunity with classrooms built in Bagad, India and Eor Ewuaso, Kenya. The program also sponsors builds and projects such as teacher trainings, school clinics, water and sanitation system upgrades.
