First Look at the HP Spectre

The HP Spectre is being touted as the 'World's Thinnest Laptop,' and while that may be true, it is really so much more. HP has set out to design the most impressive and attractive notebook PC and looking at the HP Spectre shows that they have taken great care in creating something truly remarkable. Out of the box, HP provdes a neat carrying case to go along with the power adaptor and the notebooks itself.

There are some outstanding notebooks in the market. The Apple MacBook, the Dell XPS 13 and even Microsoft's Surface Book represent devices that push the boundaries of design, construction and performance in notebooks. The HP Spectre takes a lot of the best features of these devices and creates an entirely new line of super-slim yet wholly capable devices.

Malicious Apps and Social Media scams target 2016 Rio Olympic fans and brands

Hot topics are often exploited by hackers or scammers. The 2016 Rio Olympic games are likely to be the most digitally-enabled Olympics in history, but that presents as many opportunities for attackers as it does for the viewing public. New Proofpoint research suggests that digital risks could affect virtual attendees and fans worldwide. 

In total, we analyzed more than 1,300 Olympics-related social media accounts and thousands of mobile apps across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google+, YouTube, and various app stores. Our findings detail a variety of fraudulent activities as threat actors seek to capitalize on worldwide interest.

Review: Samsung Gear Fit 2 fitness wearable

The Gear Fit 2 has some unique features, the system allows for noting down water and caffeine intake during the day and makes it possible to factor these into overall health.

The new Samsung Gear Fit 2 is a vast improvement over past Samsung fitness wearables. Lightweight, outfitted with a heart-rate monitor and GPS, plus the ability to play music files through Bluetooth connected headphones, it is a device that's not overly reliant on a companion smartphone.

I tested the altest Gear Fit2 alongside my fitness tracker of choice, the Microsoft Band 2. I found the Gear Fit 2 to be unobtrusive, it provided an easy fit that made it easy to forger once it was on and didn't give me a rash, unlike some rubber-based wearables I've tried in the past.

Starbucks app comes to Windows Phone devices in US, Canada and the UK

The much awaited Anniversary Update may have not yet made it to Windows Phone devices but at least users of Microsoft's mobile devices can drown their sorrows with Starbucks coffee. The company has made a Starbucks app available for supported Windows Phones, which means they can use their exisiting Starbucks cards or accounts on ther Lumia devices to buy coffee without a wallet.
