Apple reportedly purchases PrimeSense, Microsoft Kinect technology maker

9to5mac cites Israeli Calcalist.co.il to report that Apple bought PrimeSense for about $345 million. PrimeSense is behind the original Kinect technology before Microsoft replace it with in-house tech for 3D body movement and mapping. Senior executives from PrimeSense were seen visiting Apple’s offices recently. The acquisition is seen to boost Apple’s living room TV offerings by building on the company’s 3D tech for gesture control.

Video taken at IFA shows what the next iPhone could look like

It is September and we are getting closer to an Apple announcement pertaining to a phone that they make. The iPhone 4S was announced last October so an update is imminent. The next iPhone has been such a big story that we've seen mainstream media publishing stories based on rumours. The video above shows something cobbled together using existing parts. As with any rumour, take this with a pinch of salt and a shot of tequila. There are a few things that don't feel right about the mock-up, the font on the back and overall finish isn't very Apple-y but the design seems to fit in with some of the other stuff we've seen.

Video: Next iPhone rendered in 3D by iLab based on leaks

We've been seeing numerous purported iPhone part leaks and case designs. While Apple has not even announced when it will launch the sixth version of its smartphone, companies like iLab which deals in parts and repair feel convinced that the next iPhone will look like the above 3D rendering.

iLab has also decided to show the thinness of the device by placing it next to a Samsung Galaxy SIII model. No other product gets this much attention based on part leaks and speculation even before it is officially announced. We can expect demand for the next iPhone to be off the charts.

SlideShow: 2012 iPhone Cases and Parts reported leaked

Ahh, Summer. The temperature's rising and iPhone 'leaks' and rumors start to flood the Internet. Above is a sampling of the reported casing and parts of an upcoming iPhone model. These hit the web yesterday and come from various sources such as uBreakiFix.com and 9to5Mac.com

From what we can see, this design is slimmer and longer than the current glass iPhone and incorporates an Aluminum frame as well as an all new Dock Connector. This looks like a 4-inch screen with a 16:9 aspect ratio. Photos are sourced from Asian part suppliers who stock the items shortly before new models are introduced. Can this really be the 6th generation iPhone?
