Samsung Display's Flex Hybrid OLED slides and folds into a bigger screen

Source: Samsung Display

Samsung Display's newest prototype display shows off more than a folded screen. The Flex Hybrid OLED integrates a sliding component this time. If you need something bigger, it can slide out on the right side to get a 12.4-inch screen with a 16:10 aspect ratio.

Intel, Samsung Display show off 'slidable' PC concept

Source: Intel

If this concept ever comes to life, we might see slidable PCs in the future. Samsung Display CEO JS Choi showed off at Intel's Innovation keynote a new prototype PC that goes from a 13-inch tablet into a 17-inch one. Choi said this "device will satisfy various needs for a larger screen and portability as well." He hinted at foldable being gone on PCs for now, at least from Samsung Display's perspective.

Using this prototype, Intel demonstrated its new Unison software on this screen, which aims to connect Intel-powered computers to smartphones. We don't know if this concept will ever become an actual product, but it does show us what the companies are experimenting with in this space.

The Samsung Display business unit had received a stay of execution when the pandemic started a global surge in demand for consumer electronics, but the end seems to be within sight already.

Samsung Display shows off tri-folding screen, rollable display

No, it's not an actual product yet, but these two display designs might be for Samsung's future. Samsung Display shares two sketches of possible new display technology from the company.

The first illustration shows a tri-fold display that could evolve the existing Galaxy Fold. It can fold down to a third of the screen's size, which means the Fold could eliminate the external display. There's the logo Samsung OLED at the bottom of the screen.
