Samsung patent shows possible intro of face and iris scanning in future phones

Samsung has just been granted a patent by the US Patent Office for a 2014 filing of biometric camera that has both iris and 3D face recognition. This feature is designed to work in the dark and has eye tracking, too. We can’t say if it’ll show up in upcoming devices coming out soon, like the Galaxy Note 9. But we will be keeping an eye out for it in 2019.

Netflix to get rid of user reviews feature

Netflix is getting rid of its desktop-only user review system soon. It won’t be completely pulled out in one go, though. First, users will no longer be able to write reviews after July 30. And then in mid-August, the existing reviews will be taken out. According to Netflix spokesperson Smita Saran, members who use the feature have been notified about this change. Netflix says they are taking the feature down because of “declining usage over time.” It was only available to users of Netflix’s site and Saran said the written reviews didn’t affect the system it used to recommend shows and movies to you.

The streaming service has been constantly tweaking its feedback system. One of the latest changes they did was change how people can rate shows and movies with one to five stars into a simpler thumbs up or thumbs down.

The latest addition to J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: Episode IX is no stranger to working with director. Keri Russell has worked with Abrams on Felicity and Mission: Impossible III. Now, the actress has been casted to join Episode IX where she’ll play a role that calls for action-heavy fight scenes. She’s proven to be able to handle this through her projects like Mission: Impossible, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and The Americans. Variety reports that Abrams is likely to cast two additional actors before production begins at the end of the month.
