Google introduces family sharing on Google Play

Google is the latest company to introduce a family sharing feature into its ecosystem. Family Library allows up to six people from your clan to share purchases from the Google Play Store. These include everything from apps, movies, TV shows, games, and books. Of course, there are certain restrictions, too. Music sharing is through the Google Play Music family plan, which is a different expense and option.

Now, you can have one account to setup Family Library. You’ll select which credit card to use as your family’s method of payment or your family members can still select to use their personal cards or gift cards. But this feature also allows for purchase approval, which can help prevent children from buying apps or in-app purchases without your go signal.

Twitter introduces a new night mode into Android app

If you’ve been waiting for a night mode version of Twitter, Android users are getting dibs. The app released a simple implementation of it. There’s a toggle in the slide out menu to switch Night Mode on and off. No, you can’t see it automatically switch over at a certain time in the day but it’s pretty easy to enable it anyway. Your Android app should be getting the updated version already. No word yet though when the feature is coming to the iOS app though.

Google testing out Wi-Fi only mode for Maps

Google Maps might be helping out lessen your cellphone bill with the new feature they're testing. They're trying a new Wi-Fi only mode to take the place of Offline areas. What this does differently is it will use smaller amount of data than offline mode. The existing offline mode stops using the pre-loaded amaps once it's able to connect to your mobile data, so unless you turn off the radios, it'll use up some of your data.
