Apple expands cloud service support for iTunes U

The new version of iTunes U puts more cloud services to work. Version 3.3 now lets you add materials you’ve stored on cloud services like Box, Dropbox, and Google Drive. But you’ll need to have these non-iCloud services installed and signed in to import your files. If you’re a student, Apple’s Classroom app will now also guide you to specific iTunes U courses. Teachers, on the other hand, can also import class rosters from Apple School Manager. The app now also brings Explain Everything and Notability project files as course materials for the staff or hand-ins by students.

John Boyega goes from toppling The First Order to fighting Kaiju. The Star Wars star has lined up his next franchise in the form of Pacific Rim 2, a sequel to Guillermo del Toro’s action sci-fi monster movie. Aside from starring in it as the son of Idris Elba’s character from the first film, his production company UpperRoom Productions will be producing the sequel alongside Legendary Pictures. The new film will be directed by Steven S. DeKnight, who’s worked on the several Spartacus TV shows and replaced Drew Goddard as showrunner for Netflix’s Daredevil. Del Toro will become a producer for the sequel. There is no word though if Charlie Hunnam will be reprising his role as Raleigh Becket.

LG Innotek is reportedly exclusive dual-lens camera module supplier for ‘iPhone 7 Plus’

"iPhone 7 Plus" dual camera design mockup by Feld & Volk

If a recent Korean report is to be believed, LG Innotek instead of Sony will be supplying the rumoured dual-lens camera modules for the upcoming Apple “iPhone 7 Plus.” The shipping of the modules, according to Business Korea, should start this month and will see LG monopolizing the supply of that part for the rest of the year. But that could change by 2017 if other partners enter the picture. Sony was expected to be fulfilling this order or at least take majority of it since the company has been a regular image sensor supplier for Apple. But low production yields and earthquake damage at its Kumamoto facilities have caused manufacturing issues for Sony. Sony denied any disruption in production but reports like these say otherwise. Previous rumours claim that LG was supposed to take the first wave of orders but it seems they’ll be taking on all orders.
