If you don't know what Facebook Protect is, the product might not be geared towards you. But then, it might have been built for you, but you missed the email announcing what it was. Early this month, some Facebook users received a mysterious spam-like email with the header: "Your account requires advanced security from Facebook Protect." Netflix wants you to pay more if you want to share your password

Netflix wants to dissuade you from sharing its household plans with others that aren't in your household. Its latest effort to clampdown on password sharing is being tested in Chile, Costa Rica, and Peru. There will be an option to transfer viewing profiles into new accounts, whether as a primary account or someone else's. Or an option to add another viewer to their package at discounted prices of: 2,380 CLP in Chile, 2.99 USD in Costa Rica, and 7.9 PEN in Peru.

As The Verge pointed out, it seems the service is trying to find ways to crack down on this practice while also finding the means to grow its subscriber numbers.

Twitter partners with Mila AI research institute

Twitter wants to improve your experience on the service with the help of machine learning. The company has partnered with Montreal-based artificial intelligence research institute Mila to achieve that goal. The partnership's focus is Twitter's Cortex data and machine learning group. The three-year collaboration includes year-round open research engagements between the organizations, with Twitter researchers getting "elevated" access to Mila facilities and other internal resources. BetaKit reports there is a financial component to the deal to support Mila's projects, but the company hasn't disclosed the amount.
