Google is attempting to re-enter the smart glasses market, with artificial intelligence-powered eyewear slated for launch in 2026. The company aims to catch up with Meta and their Ray-Ban Meta glasses by releasing audio-only glasses that support its Gemini AI assistant, as well as another design featuring a built-in lens display.

The Alphabet-owned tech giant is working with Samsung, Gentle Monster and Warby Parker on the hardware's design. It's unclear whether the audio-only or the glasses with built-in screens are launching first. The glasses will be built on top of Google's headset operating system, Android XR.
