LinkedIn tests video trends feature to boost engagement

Image: LinkedIn

LinkedIn is treading into TikTok territory with a new feature is testing out on its platform. The social media site encourages users to respond to trending topics with video responses, which is a common feature you see on TikTok and other social media platforms. There will be an "Add to this trend" call to action button to entice users to create their own responses.

The feature is similar to LinkedIn's artificial intelligence-generated Collaborative Articles, which invite members to contribute to specific questions. The end goal is to have more users engage with the platform and generate more videos. The platform reports a 36% increase year-over-year in video watch time.

The posted video clips will have a header tag indicating the video is about a trending video topic. This header will be visible on the main feed as well, which users can select to see what other members are saying about the topic. LinkedIn is currently testing the video trends feature in the US.
