iOS 26 will integrate ChatGPT-5 into Apple Intelligence

You can expect to access OpenAI's newly launched ChatGPT-5 model when iOS 26 rolls out in September. If Apple Intelligence through Siri can't handle specific requests, it will rely on ChatGPT-5 to help out. The new artificial intelligence model offers improved reasoning capabilities and coding tools, alongside enhanced voice interaction and video perception.
In its current form, ChatGPT can be used selectively within Apple Intelligence to handle tasks like document queries, web searches, and Visual Intelligence on iPhone 15 Pro and later models. You can use these without an OpenAI account, but you can enable subscription benefits with an OpenAI account.
Apple Intelligence will access new features in iOS 26, including Live Translation for real-time conversations in FaceTime and Messages and Visual Intelligence updates for system-wide content search.
Similar to what Apple employed with iOS 18, iOS 26 will help maintain privacy by obscuring IP addresses and stop OpenAI from storing user requests.
