Apple's smart home hub is reportedly not coming out in 2025

If you've been waiting for Apple's take on the smart home hub, unfortunately, you'll have to wait one more year or so. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reports the device is most likely coming out in 2026. The cause for the delay is Siri. The Apple Intelligence version of the voice assistant has been pushed back so far, so it makes sense that a device that would be heavily reliant on voice would be delayed.

Apple's Visual Intelligence update can look up what you screenshot

Apple's created an answer to Google's Circle to Search with a new update to its Visual Intelligence feature for iOS 26. You can now take a screenshot and use Apple Intelligence to do things like ask ChatGPT for more information, add it to your calendar or look for a product on one of your apps. The feature will be accessible on the same screen where you edit or share a screenshot with various generative AI feature options at the button.

Apple Vision Pro gets Apple Intelligence

Image: AppleApple's visionOS 2.4 update brings Apple's artificial intelligence features, a.k.a. Apple Intelligence, to the Apple Vision Pro headset. The update introduces AI-powered writing tools and image generation features like Image Playground and Genmoji. You'll be able to use natural language to do searches in the Photos app and create "Memory Movies" from your photos and videos. 

Other productivity features you can expect with visionOS 2.4 include Priority Messages and Mail Summaries in Mail, Priority and Notification Summaries in the Notification Center, and Image Wand in Notes. These Apple Intelligence features will be available first for users with their device and Siri language set to US English.

Apple bets big on visual AI: Cameras coming to AirPods and beyond

Despite a rocky start with Apple Intelligence, Apple is reportedly shifting its artificial intelligence focus towards "Visual Intelligence," planning to integrate cameras into its wearables, starting with AirPods and the Apple Watch by 2027, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.

This strategy aims to allow users to interact with Siri by describing what they see, building on the iPhone 16's new Camera Control button that offers AI-powered visual analysis. Apple envisions this hands-free, screen-less interaction as a core feature of future devices.
