iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 will offer separate controls for alarm and ringtone volumes

A quality-of-life update coming with iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 will make sure you don't miss your alarms or have your ringtones set exceptionally loud. As spotted in the iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 beta, Apple introduced a Match Ringtone Volume toggle in Settings. You can see it in the Sounds setting in the Alarms and Timers category as well as the Alerts and System Sounds category.

Apple's new Siri AI debuts with a dedicated app

At WWDC 2026, Apple finally unveiled its artificial intelligence-powered implementation of Siri, the aptly named Siri AI. Built on top of Google Gemini models, Siri AI also gets a dedicated app in iOS 27, where you can start conversations with the AI assistant.

Siri AI is intended to work across Apple devices and promises you similar functionality to what you get with Gemini. It can look up directions, answer questions about what's on your screen, find specific photos in your camera roll, summarize documents and create event plans, among others.

Design changes coming to iOS 26

Apple introduced a new look to iOS 26 at this year's WWDC. The new Liquid Glass look is said to be inspired by the physicality we get with VisionOS. It introduces a new translucent, glass-like design.

Liquid Glass is expected to be more reactive to your gestures and taps, with some interfaces minimizing or expanding based on your reactions. The colours are also expected to react to the colours on your screen.

Apple is introducing live translation to its core communication-focused apps with iOS 26. The tech giant announced at WWDC 2025 that it plans to add live translation to calls and texts, leveraging Apple Intelligence. It will be integrated into Messages, Phone, and FaceTime apps.
